Kentucky State University Unveils New Logo for 140th Anniversary Celebration
Kentucky State University (KSU) has introduced a new commemorative logo to mark its 140th anniversary. The Frankfort-based institution, founded on May 18, 1886, as the State Normal School for Colored Persons, is preparing for a year-long celebration of its history, public mission, and role within the Commonwealth. KSU, Kentucky’s only public historically Black college or university and an 1890 land-grant institution, has evolved significantly from its initial charge of preparing teachers. Today, its responsibilities encompass higher education, research, agriculture, health, technology, workforce development, and public service. The anniversary celebration is set to commence this fall, around October 11, to commemorate the first day of classes for its inaugural cohort of 55 students.
