Veteran Political Reporter Patrick Svitek Joins CNN to Cover Upcoming Elections
Patrick Svitek, a seasoned political reporter, has joined CNN's Washington, DC bureau. Svitek will focus on the 2026 midterm races, major political trends, and the 2028 presidential contest. Previously, Svitek was part of The Washington Post's politics team, covering the 2024 presidential election and the transition to President Trump's second term. His career includes extensive coverage of Texas politics, where he reported on the state legislature and statewide elections. Svitek's experience spans nearly a decade, including work with the Houston Chronicle and Texas Tribune. He is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and resides in Washington, DC.
