US Army Reduces Soldier Relocations to Enhance Readiness and Family Stability
The US Army is implementing significant reductions in Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves for its soldiers, aiming to improve military readiness and provide greater stability for service members and their families. Over 12,000 relocations are slated to be cut in Fiscal Year 2026, with an additional reduction of more than 13,600 planned for Fiscal Year 2027. These changes are part of the Army's Human Resource Continuous Transformation initiatives. The goal is to keep warfighting formations together for longer periods, foster more cohesive teams, and minimize unnecessary disruptions to soldiers' lives.
