Jacksonville Police Investigate Attempted Luring of Elementary Student
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) and Duval County School Police are investigating an incident where a stranger in a blue van reportedly attempted to lure a student from Lone Star Elementary into their vehicle. The incident occurred on a Friday morning while the student was walking to school. According to a message sent to families by Lone Star Principal Cheryl Quarles-Gaston, the student managed to escape safely and arrived at school unharmed. Authorities were immediately notified, and an investigation is currently underway. Principal Quarles-Gaston emphasized the importance of student safety during commutes and urged parents to review 'Stranger Danger' tips with their children. These tips include using a buddy system, avoiding walking alone, never approaching strangers in vehicles, and never going anywhere with an unknown person, even if offered treats or toys.
