Representative Gabe Vasquez Releases Report on Economic Impact of Trump Administration on New Mexico Families
U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) released a new report on September 10, 2026, detailing the economic impact of the Trump Administration on New Mexico families. The report indicates that prices have surged, costing New Mexicans an average of $3,100. Vasquez attributes these rising costs to what he describes as 'reckless tariffs, the war of choice in Iran, and countless short-sighted policies' implemented by the current administration. These policies have led to increased prices for essential goods and services, including gas, groceries, and healthcare. An earlier report from April 2025, also released by Vasquez, highlighted that annual energy bills for New Mexico families increased by an average of $70 in 2025 compared to 2024, with the state consistently ranking among the highest nationally for gas price jumps since the war began. In response, Vasquez has introduced an 'Affordability Agenda' aimed at lowering prices and assisting working New Mexicans.
