Central and Western Europe Brace for Intensifying Heatwave
Central and western Europe are preparing for another intense heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar into the high 30s Celsius across France, Spain, and Italy. The heat is forecasted to shift towards Germany, Poland, and Czechia later in the week due to changing high-pressure systems. This summer has already seen record-breaking temperatures, with Austria and Slovakia setting new all-time highs. The persistent heatwave is linked to a strong anticyclone, raising freezing levels above 4,000 meters in the Alps, accelerating glacier melt. Meanwhile, the U.S. has recorded its highest temperature of the year at 51.8C in Badwater, California.
