Treasury and IRS Announce Proposed Regulations for Saver's Match Program to Benefit Low-Income Taxpayers
The Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service have announced their intent to propose regulations for the federal Saver's Match program, which is set to begin in 2027. This initiative is part of the implementation of President Trump's Executive Order 14403, aimed at promoting retirement savings access for American workers. The Saver's Match program will provide eligible taxpayers with a 50% match on the first $2,000 of qualified retirement savings contributions, up to $1,000 annually. This program replaces the Saver's Credit and is designed to enhance retirement savings for low- and moderate-income Americans. The Treasury plans to launch TrumpIRA.gov in January 2027 to provide information on IRAs and facilitate participation in the Saver's Match program.
