Indonesia Achieves Food Security with Self-Sufficiency in Key Commodities
Indonesia has reached self-sufficiency in eight strategic food commodities, marking a significant milestone in its national food security efforts. The commodities include rice, maize, large chillies, cayenne pepper, consumer sugar, chicken, eggs, and shallots. This achievement is supported by measures such as higher government purchase prices for unhusked rice, improved fertilizer distribution, and reduced subsidized fertilizer prices. President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of food security as a national priority, highlighting the need for expanding productive farmland, improving water management, and supporting farmers as key elements of the country's agricultural policy.
