According to recent data from WalletHub, the average monthly grocery cost for two people in the U.S. has increased by 0.72% from January 2025 to January 2026, reaching $560.20. This marks a 2.45% increase since January 2023. The report highlights that grocery spending among married couples has nearly doubled since 2000, with significant increases post-2020. Bakery products, non-alcoholic beverages, and miscellaneous foods account for the largest portion of monthly food spending. The analysis also identifies warehouse clubs like Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club as the cheapest places to shop, with prices significantly lower than Walmart.
