Hattiesburg Man Arrested for Online Terroristic Threat Related to Southern Miss Football Game
A Hattiesburg man, LaDamien Hutchins, 24, was arrested on September 10 by the U.S. Marshals Service in Poplarville, Mississippi, and charged with making a terroristic threat online. The threat was specifically related to a Southern Miss vs. Alcorn State football game that took place on September 5. The investigation into the online threat involved a collaborative effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Hattiesburg Police Department, University Police Department, Forrest County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Marshals Service. According to a press release from the Hattiesburg Police Department, authorities confirmed that despite the threat, there was never an active danger to the campus or the surrounding community. Hattiesburg Police Chief Hardy Sims commended the inter-agency cooperation, stating that the quick communication and teamwork were crucial in resolving the case and ensuring community safety.
