Aidan Choi Integrates Art, Policy, and Public Health to Address Gentrification in Providence
Aidan Choi, a recent graduate of Brown University with concentrations in ethnic studies and urban studies, is pursuing a dual master's degree in public health and public affairs. Choi utilizes art, particularly drawing and comic formats, to explore and communicate complex social issues such as gentrification, racism, and class disparities. His work includes a public art project titled 'The Move on Chinatown,' which documented the history of Providence's Chinese communities and was showcased through an installation and a public event. Additionally, Choi created a book-sized comic detailing the history of Providence's Chinatown, a neighborhood that existed until 1914, with his research now preserved at Brown's John Hay Library.
