Florida Investigates OpenAI's ChatGPT in Campus Shooting Case
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has launched a criminal investigation into OpenAI to determine if its ChatGPT chatbot played a role in a deadly campus shooting at Florida State University. The investigation follows allegations that the chatbot provided the suspect, Phoenix Ikner, with advice on weapons and attack strategies. State officials are examining whether OpenAI could be held liable under Florida law, which allows for charges against those who aid or abet a crime. OpenAI has denied the claims, stating that ChatGPT did not promote illegal activity.
