U.S. Ambassador to France Charles Kushner Barred from Official Meetings Following Diplomatic Incidents
U.S. Ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, has been barred from meeting any French officials due to his conduct, which France deems a "misunderstanding of the basic expectations of an ambassador." This decision follows several diplomatic incidents. Last summer, Kushner, father of President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, penned an open letter accusing France of tolerating antisemitism and criticizing its stance on recognizing Palestine, stating, "antizionism is antisemitism, pure and simple." France responded by calling his allegations "unacceptable" and a contravention of international law, summoning him to the Quai D'Orsay, the French diplomatic headquarters, which he failed to attend. Two months later, he ignored a second summons after the U.S. Embassy commented on "violent radical leftism" following the death of French neo-fascist activist Quentin Deranque. These actions have led to France's decision to restrict his diplomatic engagements.
