Pittsburgh Police Recover Stolen Historic Brew Kettle from Penn Brewery
A suspect has been arrested for the theft of a historic copper brew kettle from Penn Brewery in Pittsburgh. The kettle, which had its original bottom removed during a repair in 2023, was intended to be transformed into a commemorative plaque honoring former head brewer Andy Rich. The theft occurred on a Sunday morning, but thanks to the efforts of Detective Lang from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the kettle was tracked down to a nearby scrapyard and recovered. Penn Brewery owner Stefan Nitsch expressed his disappointment over the theft, emphasizing the sentimental value of the kettle. The brewery plans to proceed with creating the commemorative plaque and will host a reception to honor the detective's efforts.
