Chinese Refineries Turn to Russian, Iranian Crude Amid Supply Disruptions
Private Chinese refineries are increasingly turning to Russian and Iranian crude oil due to supply uncertainties caused by renewed conflicts in the Middle East. The resumption of hostilities has disrupted oil supplies, particularly after Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil shipments. As a result, Chinese refiners have placed significant orders for Russian ESPO Blend crude, which is being loaded from the Pacific port of Kozmino. This move comes as Russia's oil output has been affected by Ukrainian drone strikes, although facilities in Russia's Far East remain operational. Despite these challenges, Russia's oil revenue has reportedly increased due to heightened demand and rising prices, partly driven by the ongoing conflict in Iran.
