Sausalito City Manager Arrested for Alleged Yacht Burglary Raises Concerns
Elaine Forbes, the newly appointed city manager of Sausalito, California, was arrested by Marin County Sheriff's deputies on suspicion of felony burglary. Forbes was found aboard a 75-foot yacht at the Sausalito Yacht Harbor, which she did not own, after a noise complaint was reported. She allegedly boarded the yacht without permission and sounded its horn loudly, waking up the neighborhood. Forbes, who has a respected career in public administration, was placed on administrative leave by the city just days before her arrest. The city has not disclosed the reasons for her leave, citing privacy concerns. Forbes' arrest has raised questions about her conduct and the city's vetting process during her hiring.
