Tennessee Supreme Court Resets Application Deadline for 12th Judicial District Judge Vacancy
The Tennessee Supreme Court’s Administrative Office of the Courts has issued a new notice, resetting the application deadline for the open judge’s seat in the six-county 12th Judicial District. The new deadline for applications is 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday. This decision restarts the process after four applicants had previously been approved for interviews scheduled for October 19. No specific reason was provided for the new notice, which was issued on Friday. The vacancy arose from the death of Judge John Harvey “Cam” Cameron Jr. on August 3. The 12th Judicial District encompasses Bledsoe, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Rhea, and Sequatchie counties. Applicants must be licensed attorneys, at least 30 years old, Tennessee residents for at least five years, and district residents for at least one year. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission will oversee the process, soliciting applicants, conducting public hearings and interviews, and recommending three nominees to the Governor’s Office.
