Ignite Utah Action Hosts Panel to Boost Gen Z Civic Engagement
Ignite Utah Action, a non-profit organization, hosted a discussion panel at Salt Lake Community College to engage Gen Z voters in Utah's Congressional District 1. The panel included candidates from the Utah Democratic Party, such as Luis Villarreal and Eva Lopez Chavez, who addressed issues important to Gen Z voters, including housing affordability and job opportunities. The event featured a survey that highlighted Gen Z's priorities, with 40% of respondents emphasizing the cost of living as a major concern. The panel aimed to increase Gen Z civic engagement by 1-3%, potentially adding 13,900 new voters. Candidates also responded to questions on foreign policy, raising minimum wage, and mental healthcare.
