John Derdall, Chicago TV Network Veteran, Passes Away at 90
John Goodwin Derdall, a veteran of Chicago's television networks, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on March 31, 2026. Derdall, who graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Theater Arts, had a distinguished career working for major TV networks such as WGN, NBC, and CBS. He was a life member of the United Scenic Artists Union, Local 829. After retiring, Derdall contributed to the Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades by helping to create the Retirement Fund. His passing marks the end of a significant era in Chicago's television history.
