James Talarico Seeks to Strengthen Black Voter Support in Texas Senate Race
James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in Texas, is working to build support among Black voters, a crucial demographic that largely supported his primary rival, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. Recent polling shows Talarico with 67% support among Black voters, a significant improvement from earlier in the campaign. Talarico has been actively engaging with Black communities, visiting historically Black colleges and meeting with Black leaders. He has also rolled out policy plans targeting issues important to Black voters, such as Black maternal mortality. Despite these efforts, some Black leaders have called for a clearer outreach strategy from Talarico.
