Laramie County Voters Approve All 14 Sixth Penny Tax Propositions in Primary Election
Laramie County voters in Wyoming have approved all 14 propositions funded by the 1% specific purpose sales and use tax, known as the Sixth Penny, during the recent primary election. Each ballot measure required a simple majority to pass and was considered independently. Key approvals include $9 million for city road preservation, $16,976,216 for emergency response vehicles and rural fire stations across six districts, and $10,474,516 for the replacement of the former Johnson Pool with a new south Cheyenne pool facility. Additionally, voters allocated $9,149,711 for community recreation and library facilities, with $7,348,711 directed to Laramie County Library facilities in Cheyenne and Pine Bluffs, and $1,801,000 for park improvements in various towns. Other approved propositions cover community infrastructure projects, public facilities, municipal vehicles, and upgrades to the Laramie County Detention Center.
