Minnesota Attorney General Sues Texas Governor Over Extradition of ICE Agent Accused of Shooting and Lying
Minnesota's Attorney General, Keith Ellison, has filed a lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbott to compel the extradition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Christian Castro. Castro faces charges in Minnesota, including four counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of falsely reporting a crime, stemming from a January 14 shooting incident in Minneapolis. Prosecutors allege that Castro fired a gun through the front door of a home, striking Venezuelan immigrant Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in the leg. Following the shooting, Castro is accused of falsely claiming that Sosa-Celis and another man attacked an ICE officer. Castro was arrested in Texas in May but has not been extradited to Minnesota to face these charges.
