Eli Lilly and Planet Harvest Distribute Brain-Healthy Produce to Metro Detroit Seniors on Alzheimer's Day
On World Alzheimer's Day, Eli Lilly and Company, a pharmaceutical firm, partnered with Planet Harvest to distribute over 1,300 brain-healthy produce boxes to food-insecure and underserved seniors in Metro Detroit. Jennifer Oleksiw, head of neuroscience and chief commercial innovation officer at Lilly, emphasized the challenges underserved communities face in maintaining healthy diets, which are crucial for overall health and cognitive function. The 12-15 pound food boxes contain items like apples, cabbage, cucumbers, collard greens, lemons, oranges, corn, and zucchinis, all selected to support healthy aging and cognitive awareness. Seniors can pick up these boxes at various locations, including Rochester Christian University, Oakland Church, Next Steps for Seniors Foundation, and the Webster Community Center, with door-to-door distributions also occurring at several senior living homes.
