Researchers Suggest Human Lifespan Could Extend to 194 Years Under Ideal Conditions
A recent study published in npj Aging suggests that humans could potentially live up to 194 years if nearly all reversible hallmarks of aging were eliminated. The research, conducted by a team in Russia, utilized a mathematical model to explore the impact of somatic mutations—DNA changes that occur naturally throughout life—on human longevity. The study posits that while these mutations are a significant factor, they are not the sole determinant of aging. The model estimated a median lifespan of 146 to 194 years, highlighting the role of various biological processes in aging. Experts like James Powers, MD, from Vanderbilt University, and R.
