Glen Burnie Parking Garage Evacuation Leads to $3,000 Payments for Stranded Drivers
Drivers with vehicles trapped in the Empire Towers parking garage in Glen Burnie, Maryland, will receive $3,000 payments to cover transportation expenses. The garage was evacuated on July 9 due to unsafe conditions caused by unpermitted construction work, which led to sagging ceilings and exposed rebar. Approximately 100 people were affected, and an engineer's analysis determined that it is unsafe to remove the vehicles for at least 90 days. Tenants are required to provide vehicle details to receive the payment, but response times may be delayed due to the volume of affected vehicles.
