Governor Abbott Announces Compliance of Major Companies with Texas Data Center Standards
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has announced that major companies, including Google, Rowan, and CleanSpark, have committed to complying with the state's new data center standards. These guidelines, established by Governor Abbott, aim to ensure that data centers protect the electric grid, conserve water, and respect residential neighborhoods. The standards require data centers to pay for their own electric infrastructure, reuse water, and reduce electricity costs for Texans. The Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) will oversee compliance, ensuring that data centers do not pass costs onto Texas families or disrupt communities.
