US and Allies Demonstrate Maritime Defense Capabilities in Exercise Balikatan
The United States, along with partner nations, conducted Exercise Balikatan, the largest annual military exercise with the Philippines, to enhance maritime defense capabilities. The exercise included a two-day live-fire event, Joint Task Force Maritime Strike (MARSTRIKE), where forces from the US, Philippines, Japan, and Canada coordinated long-range fires against maritime targets. The drill involved sinking two decommissioned ships using various military assets, including missile systems and aircraft. The exercise demonstrated the interoperability between the participating nations and their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
