Shooter Near White House Previously Charged with Trespassing, Raises Security Concerns
Nasire Best, a 21-year-old man, was shot and killed by Secret Service officers after opening fire near the White House. Best, who had a history of mental health issues and previous arrests for trespassing, was identified as the shooter. He had previously been apprehended for attempting to access restricted areas of the White House and had claimed to be Jesus Christ. The incident, which also resulted in a bystander being injured, highlights ongoing security challenges near the White House. Best's mother expressed disbelief over the events, emphasizing that her son was not violent despite his actions.
