Karolyn Mossman and Brian Schatz Honored at Maui's 54th Kupuna Aloha Luncheon
Karolyn Mossman, a retired special education teacher, and U.S. Senator Brian Schatz were recognized as Kupuna Advocates of the Year at the 54th Kupuna Aloha Luncheon in Maui. The event, attended by nearly 550 seniors and community leaders, was held at the Grand Wailea and featured a hotel-style buffet, entertainment, and opportunities for attendees to engage with political candidates. Mossman was honored for her extensive volunteer work and leadership in senior organizations, while Schatz was acknowledged for his legislative efforts to improve the lives of seniors, including initiatives to expand Social Security benefits and address senior isolation. The event was organized by the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council and Maui Economic Opportunity, highlighting the community's commitment to honoring and supporting its senior members.
