LAUSD Board Advances 391-Unit Workforce Housing Project in Woodland Hills to Address Employee Housing Crisis
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) board has selected Affirmed Housing Group/HA Builders to develop a 391-unit workforce housing project on the former Collins Street Elementary School site in Woodland Hills. This decision, made on Tuesday, advances a plan to provide affordable housing for LAUSD employees struggling with the region's high housing costs. The proposal includes 391 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments on the 6.56-acre district-owned property at 5717 N. Rudnick Ave., along with approximately 550 parking spaces. Amenities are planned to include outdoor play areas, a community room, fitness center, walking path, swimming pool, and a third-party operated daycare. The apartments will offer a leasing preference for LAUSD employees, serving households earning between 30% and 120% of Los Angeles County’s area median income, encompassing a wide range of district staff from teachers to custodians.
