Workit Health's Home Delivery Program Enhances Treatment Retention for Opioid Use Disorder
Workit Health, a telehealth provider specializing in opioid and alcohol use disorder treatment, has implemented a home delivery program for buprenorphine, a medication used in opioid addiction treatment. A study published in February 2025 in Addiction Science & Clinical Practice found that patients receiving buprenorphine through home delivery had significantly higher retention rates compared to those picking up prescriptions at retail pharmacies. The study reported a three-month retention rate of 82.6% for home delivery patients versus 58.9% for pharmacy pickup patients. This initiative addresses the issue of many U.S. pharmacies not stocking buprenorphine, which can lead to delays in treatment for patients relying on telehealth prescriptions.
