Buried Lede Media Launches 'The Great Lakes Current' to Enhance Local News Coverage Across Michigan
Buried Lede Media, a company operating five Michigan newspapers including Lansing City Pulse, The Yale Expositor, The Hamtramck Review, The Tri-City Times, and The Tribune Recorder Leader, has introduced a new initiative called 'The Great Lakes Current.' This monthly feature aims to share stories, columns, and opinions from across their network of local newsrooms with readers in other communities. The publisher, Lonnie Scott, explained that this effort is a response to the trend of large newspaper conglomerates reducing local reporting. Instead of cutting existing content, Buried Lede Media is adding pages to their newspapers to accommodate 'The Great Lakes Current,' with the first edition appearing as two to four pages depending on the publication. The goal is to provide readers with a broader perspective on what is being discussed, worried about, celebrated, or debated in different parts of Michigan.
