Israel Deploys Iron Dome to UAE Amid Conflict with Iran, Enhancing Defense Cooperation
Israel has deployed an Iron Dome air defense system to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the onset of a conflict with Iran, according to reports from Israeli and U.S. officials. This deployment marks the first time the Iron Dome has been transferred to another country, with Israeli personnel sent to operate the system. The UAE faced a significant number of missile and drone attacks from Iran, with 550 ballistic and cruise missiles and 2,200 drones launched, according to the Emirati Defense Ministry. The Iron Dome system successfully intercepted many of these threats, although some did impact military and civilian sites. The move has reportedly shifted public sentiment in the UAE, with increased acceptance of Israeli assistance. Tareq Alotaiba, a former senior official in the UAE National Security Council, highlighted the importance of Israel's support, noting the strengthened alliance between the UAE, Israel, and the United States.
