U.S. Congress Delegation Visits Venezuela to Strengthen Diplomatic Ties
A delegation from the U.S. Congress, including representatives Brian Mast, Randy Fine, Kat Cammack, and Jonathan Jackson, visited Caracas to meet with Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez. This visit is the first official engagement since the restoration of diplomatic relations in March 2026, following the capture of former dictator Nicolás Maduro. The discussions focused on defense, border security, and cooperation against transnational crime. The meeting was part of a broader agenda to enhance bilateral relations and included participation from U.S. and Venezuelan officials, such as the U.S. chargé d'affaires John Barrett and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia.
