102-Year-Old Dachau Liberator Hilbert Margol Continues to Share His Story
Hilbert 'Hibby' Margol, a 102-year-old veteran and one of the last living liberators of the Dachau concentration camp, continues to share his experiences from World War II. Margol, who lives alone in Atlanta, has been actively speaking about his wartime experiences since his 80s, after decades of silence. He and his identical twin brother, Howard, were part of the U.S. Army unit that liberated Dachau in 1945. Margol's story is not just about his military service but also about his contributions to Jewish life in Atlanta, including significant donations to local synagogues. His family history intertwines with the Holocaust, as his great-granddaughters carry the legacy of both Holocaust survivors and liberators.
