Ambassador Cruise Line Faces Norovirus Outbreak, Over 1,700 Confined in Bordeaux
The Ambassador Cruise Line's ship, Ambition, has been quarantined in Bordeaux, France, after an outbreak of norovirus, a highly contagious gastrointestinal illness. The ship, carrying over 1,700 passengers and crew, mostly from Britain and Ireland, reported around 50 cases of the illness. The outbreak was confirmed by tests conducted at the Bordeaux University Hospital. The ship had previously docked in Liverpool and Brest before reaching Bordeaux. A 92-year-old passenger died on board, but authorities have not linked his death to the outbreak. The local prefecture has allowed asymptomatic passengers to disembark, while those affected remain isolated on the ship.
