Feeding Our Future Defendant Pleads Guilty to Fraud, Faces Asset Forfeiture
A defendant involved in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, Warsame, has pleaded guilty to charges of fraud. Warsame admitted to falsely claiming that his company, Metro Area Catering, served 1.6 million meals, resulting in over $4 million in federal child nutrition funds being misappropriated. The fraudulent activities included submitting fake meal counts and rosters of children purportedly served by his Minneapolis-based nonprofit, Southside Youth LLC. As part of his plea agreement, Warsame will forfeit assets purchased with the fraudulent gains, including a 2021 Mazda CX-3, a home in Plymouth, and a commercial building in Minneapolis. He remains out of custody under conditions until his sentencing, which is yet to be scheduled.
