Los Angeles Prepares for Potentially Powerful El Niño Season
Los Angeles officials are actively preparing for a potentially powerful El Niño season, which is forecasted to bring significant weather challenges to Southern California. The National Weather Service indicates that strong El Niño events increase the likelihood of wetter-than-normal conditions in the region during winter. These conditions can lead to dangerous weather and coastal issues, including flash floods, debris flows in burn scar areas, severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and tornadoes, coastal flooding, beach erosion, and hazardous rip currents.
