Duke Energy Offers Up to $9,000 in Rebates for North Carolina Residential Solar and Battery Storage Systems
Duke Energy Carolinas (DEC) and Duke Energy Progress (DEP) have launched the PowerPair NC rebates program, providing financial incentives for North Carolina residential customers to install home solar panel systems combined with certified battery storage solutions. This program aims to reduce peak load demands on the local electric grid, particularly during hot summer afternoons and cold winter mornings, thereby enhancing grid stability. Homeowners can receive a one-time rebate of up to $9,000. To qualify, solar arrays must meet specific sizing limits, with a minimum of 3 kW-DC and a maximum rebate cap at 10 kW-DC, translating to a maximum solar rebate of $3,600. The solar array must also be sized to offset no more than 100% of the customer's average annual historical electricity consumption. Battery systems must have a usable capacity of at least 10 kWh, with a maximum rebate cap at 13.5 kWh, resulting in a maximum battery rebate of $5,400.
