Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, has publicly condemned fellow GOP statewide candidate Bo French for xenophobic remarks made on social media. French, the Republican nominee for a position on Texas's oil and gas regulatory agency, shared an image of 'brown' college football fans cheering at a University of Texas game, labeling the scene a 'problem' and suggesting it was 'far worse than anyone imagined.' He also implied that the university was prioritizing applicants of color over white candidates. Cornyn, in a Sunday post, questioned whether other Republican officials would condemn the 'intolerance and racism' or allow it to become normalized. Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows, also a Republican, stated that French 'crossed the line' and urged him to delete his comments. Despite the widespread criticism from within his own party, French has defended his remarks, using the backlash to solicit campaign donations, claiming he is being attacked by 'the radical left and their allies.'
