U.S. Prepares to Equip Ukraine for Independent Patriot System Maintenance with Raytheon Technology
The United States is moving to acquire specialized equipment from Raytheon to enable Ukraine to independently diagnose and service components of its Patriot surface-to-air missile systems. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the downtime of these critical air defense systems by allowing Ukrainian specialists to perform maintenance and repairs more quickly. Currently, faulty Patriot components often require shipment to partner countries for inspection, leading to delays. The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency has initiated a search for potential suppliers of Depot Test Equipment, identifying Raytheon as the sole qualified manufacturer. The project includes the purchase of diagnostic stations, specialized electronic instruments, emulators, and spare parts for a five-year period, along with site preparation, equipment installation, and training for Ukrainian personnel.
