Congressman Rick W. Allen Honors Washington County Students with Congressional Award Gold Medal
Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) recently visited Brentwood School in Sandersville, Georgia, to present the Congressional Award Gold Medal to three students from the 12th District. This award is the highest honor Congress bestows upon America's youth. The recipients, Kessler Ann Bibb, McFerrin Dean Bibb, and Mary Thomas Smith, were recognized for their significant achievements. The Congressional Award program, established by Congress in 1979, aims to acknowledge initiative, service, and achievement in young people aged 14 to 24. To earn the Gold Medal, students must dedicate years to completing goals across four key areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration. Congressman Allen noted that these three students were among only 19 young Georgians in the 2026 Gold Medal Class, having logged hundreds of hours in these activities over nearly three years.
