El Salvador is preparing to host the official World Tourism Day 2026 observance ceremony on September 27, under the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism." The country aims to position itself as a leader in artificial intelligence and digital innovation within the global tourism sector. Through its Surf City II program and collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank, El Salvador's Ministry of Tourism has developed a portfolio that includes tourism governance, demand management, and a tourism innovation and intelligence system. This initiative involves providing tourism authorities with access to data platforms that monitor hotel occupancy, tourism supply, and visitor mobility to track trends and key indicators across the national tourism sector.
