The Health Disparities Podcast Explores Health Challenges and Equity Initiatives
The Health Disparities Podcast, a flagship program by the Movement is Life Community, is exploring pressing health challenges through conversations with experts. A recent episode featured Dr. Caira Boggs, Director of the Michigan Public Health Institute’s Center for Health Innovation and Practice and Detroit Health Initiatives. Dr. Boggs, a Detroit native, leads 16 initiatives focused on health equity, recovery, food access, chronic disease prevention, and community-led grantmaking, all rooted in the lived experiences of Detroit neighborhoods. She shared her personal journey, from growing up in a connected Detroit community to witnessing stark disparities in college, which fueled her desire to advocate for marginalized communities, particularly Black women disproportionately affected by maternal and infant health outcomes.
