Small Craft Advisory Issued for Lake Michigan Nearshore Waters
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Rapids, MI, has issued a Small Craft Advisory for nearshore waters of Lake Michigan, effective through late Friday night, May 15, 2026. Winds are expected to increase significantly, with speeds reaching up to 30 knots. Wave heights will also rise, ranging from 5 to 7 feet in most areas by late morning and afternoon. The advisory covers multiple zones, including Pentwater to Manistee, Whitehall to Pentwater, Grand Haven to Whitehall, Holland to Grand Haven, South Haven to Holland, and St. Joseph to South Haven. Conditions will remain hazardous for small vessels, with additional chances of rain showers and isolated thunderstorms during the evening and overnight hours.
