U.S. and Nigeria Conduct Joint Strike, Killing Top Islamic State Leader
In a significant counterterrorism operation, U.S. and Nigerian forces successfully executed a joint military strike that resulted in the death of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the second in command of the Islamic State globally. The operation, announced by President Trump and Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, took place in the Lake Chad Basin of Nigeria. Al-Minuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, was responsible for planning attacks and managing financial operations for ISIS. The strike, confirmed by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, aligns with President Trump's commitment to protect Christians in Nigeria and degrade ISIS's operational capabilities.
