Habitat for Humanity of Evansville Celebrates Fourth Home in 'Building Homes and Health' Initiative
Habitat for Humanity of Evansville recently celebrated the launch of its fourth home constructed under the 'Building Homes and Health' initiative. This program is a collaborative effort involving Habitat for Humanity of Evansville, Deaconess Health System, Indiana University School of Medicine Evansville, the University of Evansville, and the University of Southern Indiana. The initiative integrates housing, healthcare, and higher education, with Deaconess Health System funding four Habitat homes and university students contributing through volunteer work during construction. The latest home, located at 1000 N. Third Ave., is designated for James and Fancy Johnson and their family of five. The Johnsons expressed that the new home is life-changing, addressing previous health issues and improving their living situation. They also highlighted the support and classes, such as budgeting and health, offered by Habitat for Humanity, encouraging others to apply regardless of their perceived eligibility.
