Global Climate Data Updates for Building Simulations Released
The website Climate.OneBuilding.Org has released significant updates to its climate data resources, aimed at supporting building simulations. These updates include refreshed Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) files and new datasets for various regions. Notable additions include the 2025 ASHRAE Design Conditions, updated California Climate Zones, and new files for Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. The site now hosts over 16,100 locations worldwide, with data spanning from 2004 to 2023. The updates also incorporate solar radiation data from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset, providing comprehensive meteorological and climatological information. Additionally, the site has introduced hourly climate normals for thousands of U.S. locations, calculated over uniform 30-year periods. These datasets are designed to assist architects, engineers, and researchers in creating energy-efficient and climate-resilient buildings.
