Two Men Sentenced for Multi-State Walmart Theft Ring
Anthony Belser, 56, and George Mayo, 52, have received sentences for their involvement in a large-scale organized retail theft operation targeting Walmart stores across 11 U.S. states. Belser was sentenced to 25 years, with 10 years to be served in prison, while Mayo received a 40-year sentence, with 20 years to be served in prison. The duo stole merchandise valued at $362,844 from Walmart locations in Georgia, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia over a 10-month period starting in 2022. Their method involved concealing merchandise inside larger items, then placing the hidden goods into empty retail boxes and paying for the lower-value box. The investigation utilized security footage, credit card transactions, bank records, and rental car contracts to piece together their activities. Both men pleaded guilty to violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act and organized retail theft.
