St. Louis Area Experiences Overnight Crime Wave Including Pursuit, Robbery, and Shootings
The St. Louis area experienced a series of significant criminal incidents overnight, including a multistate police pursuit, a smash-and-grab robbery, and two separate shootings. The police pursuit began in Caseyville, Illinois, and continued into Fairview Heights before re-entering St. Louis on Interstate 64. The suspect vehicle eventually lost its front tires and came to a stop on 4th Street downtown, leading to the apprehension of two individuals. Concurrently, a smash-and-grab burglary occurred at an Ulta Beauty store in Fairview Heights, where officers found a shattered front door and scattered merchandise. Fairview Heights police are leading this investigation with assistance from Illinois State Police. Additionally, two shootings were reported: one in Jennings, where a man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his side, and another on Laura Street in north St. Louis, where a man in his 60s sustained an arm injury.
